Dear Friends:

On behalf of E3: Elevate Early Education, we are thrilled to launch, Early Education Matters, a campaign and nonpartisan coalition to advance our legislative priorities for the 2020 session and beyond.

Early Education Matters
Access. Equity. Quality. Impact.

Governor Northam, the First Lady and state agency leaders spent much of the last year talking with communities and early childhood stakeholders about how Virginia can do better. During those conversations across the state, common themes emerged over and over to:

  • Increase access to early childhood programs

  • Focus on equity for all children

  • Improve the quality of programs

  • Make a lasting impact

The Governor heard those priorities loud and clear and introduced a comprehensive early education package to better prepare children for kindergarten success. The $95m budget package would be the largest investment ever for Virginia’s early learners to close the achievement and school readiness gaps.

Early Education Matters was created to show the strong support of a diverse group of advocates, educators, early childhood programs, schools, business and community leaders. Visit our website, VaEarlyEd.organd sign up to join our cause.

Together, WE must make sure Virginia’s children are a top priority in our state. As the General Assembly got underway last week, legislators are already debating 2,000+ bills. It will be critical to stay up to date and contact your legislator to ask them to support the Governor’s early education package.

My best,

Lisa Howard
