Amazon x E3 teamed up to expand equitable access to books for thousands of children and families. We’ve worked with Local Program Partners to promote, grow and sustain DPIL across Virginia.

We forged a partnership between The Degood Foundation and The Scout Guide of Williamsburg + Chesapeake Bay to highlight the incredible work they do on the Peninsula. Dolly attended the launch party along with Kyle Degood. Special thanks to Sara Harris, editor of The Scout Guide.
In April, we gathered with over 100+ city and business leaders, state legislators and philanthropic leaders to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Portsmouth with ChainBreakers, Inc, the Local Program Partner. Link to.

Together, we unveiled the first-ever Micro-Library filled with Imagination Library titles at the Children’s Museum of Virginia. This is a special place for children and families to read and enroll in the Imagination Library using a QR code. Over 250 DPIL families attended and 430 enrolled in the program and had a free day at the museum.

In late May, we came together to raise awareness, ignite a love of books, reading and math.

Actress and NYT bestselling author Danica McKellar from The Wonder Years and The West Wing gave a Book Talk, read Goodnight, Numbers aloud to hundreds of families and signed books. This special book was part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for six years.
We unveiled the Amazon Little Library stocked with free Imagination Library titles at Met Park. Amazon started as an online bookstore and that legacy continues with this library.
