Dear Friends,

Thank you for your unwavering support! It is because of you and your calls, letters and visits that the House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate have passed their respective budgets and both include funding for Governor Northam’s early education package.

We are grateful that our policymakers are making young children a priority. The House and Senate budgets vary slightly when it comes to access and the number of slots that will be offered to children.

Budget conferees for the House and Senate have been appointed. Over the next week, they will meet to reconcile the differences in their budgets. Please continue to tell the budget conferees that Early Education Matters to you! Thank them for their support and emphasize that Virginia’s children deserve access to high quality programs. That begins with fully funding Governor Northam’s $95m budget package. While we realize that they have the difficult task of balancing the budget, early education cannot be cut.

Just in case you missed it, E3:Elevate Early Education’s Vice Chairman, Gil Minor penned an opinion column on this issue and it was published in The Richmond Times-Dispatch earlier this month.

Gil Minor column: Early education must be a top priority for all

Together, WE can make this a home run for Virginia’s children!
