The statewide rollout for Virginia’s Kindergarten Readiness Project has begun!  See below for all the details from UVA CASTL and learn how your school district can take part in the next phase!

In the fall 2014, sixteen school divisions partnered with UVA & E3 in piloting an expanded assessment of children’s kindergarten readiness skills, to compliment the PALS. We found that 34% of children in the Commonwealth arrive at kindergarten unprepared in one or more critical learning domains (literacy, math, self-regulation, and social skills).  These results were reported to the Virginia State Legislature (the executive summary is available here), who then allocated $1M to begin statewide implementation of an expanded assessment (Read more here).

In this next Phase, UVA will work with a limited number of school divisions to implement the expanded assessments. Be on the leading edge of this effort and become an “early adopter” of the expanded kindergarten readiness assessment!

Interested school districts should click here to complete the VKRP Participation Contact form.  Please let UVA hear from you quickly, as participation in this first year is limited.
