We are continuing to move through Virginia and highlight great spots across The Commonwealth for kids and families.  Last week, we popped into Virginia Beach and today we’re heading to Abingdon, VA!

Abingdon is a great family spot with SO much to do!

Get outside for a family hike or bike ride.

Have a tea party on Main Street at Camella’s Remember When.  Their lavender ice tea is a must and the fudge is DELICIOUS and you’ll see two furry friends outside Main Street to greet you as you arrive.

Pop into Ellis Soda Shop and grab a milkshake–a family event guaranteed to end with some VERY happy customers!

Head to The Martha Washington Inn and admire the beautiful building and rooms.  Need a simple, educational activity?  Try walking around the Inn and counting the windows!

AND beginning tomorrow, you and your family can enjoy the 66th Virginia Highlands Festival–a great event filled with activities and events for the whole family.  The Festival runs until August 10th.  Click here to check out their “Youth and Family” events.

Abingdon, VA, just one more reason Virginia is a GREAT state for kids and families.

Don’t forget, we want to hear from YOU!  Why is YOUR community a great place for kids and families?  Keep sending them into Elizabeth at ewilliams@e3va.org.  We can’t wait to see where we’re headed next!
