Kids Need To Read

April 29, 2024

What an honor to have Governor Glenn Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin, distinguished guests and E3 School alumni with us for the Governor’s salary donation. The donation will help fund scholarships to increase equitable access for more children and the Lisa Robertson Literacy Lab + Library @ The New E3 School. The Robertson Family matched the donation. We loved having the family there with us to celebrate one of E3:Elevate Early Education’s and The New E3 School’s founding board members and biggest advocates.

Governor Youngkin and the First Lady mentioned the alarming data that too many children are not meeting literacy benchmarks in kindergarten and over 50% of our students in K-2nd grade are at moderate to high risk of reading failure. The governor shared that he worked with the legislature to pass the Virginia Literacy Act (VLA) in 2022, fund implementation of the VLA and signed the bill to grow Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library book gifting program in Virginia to inspire a love of reading in young children.
