Streamin3

From Pilot To Statewide Impact

STREAMin3 was created by E3: Elevate Early Education in partnership with the University of Virginia and The New E3 School to be replicated and scaled statewide.

How STREAMin3 Began

E3 created and funded the STREAMin3 curriculum, professional development, coaching, and assessment model alongside the University of Virginia at The E3 School. The model was intentionally designed to be replicated and scaled, pairing high-quality instruction with strong implementation and data-driven assessment.

The initial STREAMin3 pilot included 112 classrooms across Virginia—spanning private, faith-based, VPI, and Head Start programs. These classrooms piloted the UVA CASTL-designed STREAMin3 curriculum, professional development, and coaching model developed at The New E3 School. A preschool version of the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP) was used to assess children’s readiness.

Replication and Statewide Expansion

Following the pilot, E3 advocated for and advanced the expansion of The New E3 School’s STREAMin3 model in partnership with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). As a result of this advocacy and demonstrated impact, $13.7 million was awarded to expand the model to more than 4,000 publicly funded preschool classrooms across Virginia.

The school’s model was replicated and scaled through the development of the STREAMin3 curriculum, professional development, coaching, and assessment—funded by E3 and developed by the University of Virginia. This high-quality implementation model and data-driven approach increased equitable access for thousands of children and families, improved quality in classrooms, and supported teachers and programs statewide.

STREAMin3 Today

Today, the STREAMin3 model developed by the University of Virginia at The E3 School has expanded to more than 5,400 publicly funded early childhood classrooms across Virginia. STREAMin3 is now the most widely used early childhood curriculum in the Commonwealth, supporting quality learning experiences for children and educators across diverse delivery settings.
