E3 Elevate Early Education

A new report from Fight Crime: Invest in Kids features Sheriffs, Chiefs and Prosecutors urging America to Cut Crime by investing in high-quality early education.  As Sheriff Leroy Baca states, “Pay for quality early education and care now, or pay far more for the costs of crime in the decades to come.”

Did you know that nationally, we’re spending nearly $75 billion a year to incarcerate adults in federal and state prisons or local jails?  But when we choose to strategically invest in children’s earliest years through high quality early education, we can steer children towards success and see fewer drop-out rates, a reduction in crime, and a reduction in the number of prisoners.

As the report illustrates, we’re at a fork in the road–we can continue going in the same direction and yield dismal results, or we can choose to head in a new direction, one that promises proven results like increased graduation rates, productive citizens, and reduction in crime.  Which path would you take?
