We are going through a letter and sound maze!
The entire class made a maze of alphabet letters. As they walked through the maze, they recognized letters and sounds.
The next step (literally) was to listen to each sound and connect each letter to the sound to make a word.
Then they made words to sound out. B-A-T became S-A-T became C-A-T.

All while having fun and learning foundational literacy skills!
This activity can happen anywhere! Here are a few ideas as you are out and about:
- Driving in a car- Talk about the letters on a license plate and name each one. I see an A, J, and L.
- Walking around a neighborhood or store- Point to signs and words. Say them out loud.
- Going on a letter and word hunt around your house. Help your child find letters and words. Show how the letters make sounds and the sounds of each letter are blended together to make words.
- Reading a book- Point to the words as you read and follow along.
Make it playful and fun!
